Overland Journey To Ladakh(L13)

Manali / Pangong / Nubra / Sham / Kargil / Srinagar

A rugged terrain and beautiful high altitude desert formed by the buckling and folding of the earth's crust as the Indian sub-continent pushed with irresistible force against the immovable mass of Asia. Its silhouettes, elevated by the incredible tectonic movements, have been shaped over the ages by the process of erosion, sculpted into the form by wind and water. Dotted with monasteries, beatific lakes, passes and maroon robed monks, Ladakh has been a destination for young and adventures for sure.

Day 01: Manali – Jispa (139 Kms | 5-6 hrs approx)

  • Early morning Leave for Jispa, cross Rohtang Pass (13050 ft) to enter Lahaul Valley, visit Raja Gyepan temple at Sissu Village, lunch at Keylong, post lunch drive to Jispa.
  • On arrival check in to the camp or Guest house.
  • Overnight in Jispa.

 

Day 02: Jispa – Leh (335 Kms | 10-11 hrs approx.)

  • Early morning after breakfast leave for Leh, one the way cross Baralacha Pass (16020 ft, Nakeela and Lachangla Pass 16,617 ft.) a beautiful high altitude drive to be remembered for life time.
  • Post Lunch continue drive to Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang (Plateau on Stretch of 42 Kms), Tanglang La Pass 17,585ft, 2nd highest motorable road in the world, reach upshi where your drive along with Indus river.
  • Overnight in Leh.

Day 03: Leh - Nubra Valley (128 Kms | 4-5 hrs approx.)

  • After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft).
  • On arrival check in to the hotel / camp.
  • Later post lunch, enjoy the camel ride (By owns) at Sand Dunes between Deskit & Hundur Village.
  • Overnight in Nubra Valley.

 

Day 04: Nubra Valley – Leh (128 Kms | 4-5 hrs approx)

  • After Breakfast visit Deskit Monastery (Big Buddha), this spot offers a magnificent panoramic view of Nubra Valley later drive back to Leh by same Route, crossing Khardungla Pass.
  • Overnight in Leh.

 

Day 05: Leh - Pangong Lake (140 Kms | 4-5 hrs approx.)

  • After Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, through Changla Pass 17,350 ft, 3rd Highest Motorable road in the world.
  • Arrival at Camp, Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy beauty of the high altitude of the Lake, surrounded by grey and brown mountains, clean and dust washed. Count the waves washing the shores of the color changing Lake and be mesmerized by the different shades of blue from Azure to Navy Blue.
  • Overnight in Pangong Lake.

 

Day 06: Pangong Lake – Leh (140 Kms | 4-5 hrs approx)

  • Early morning enjoy the picturesque view of Sun rise on lake.
  • After Breakfast drive back to Leh, en route visit Thikse Monastery and Shey Palace.
  • Overnight in Leh.

 

Day 07: Leh. 

  • Morning after breakfast proceed for a sight seeing tour of Leh city, visit Hall of Fame Museum, Spituk Gompa, Leh Fort & Shanti Stupa.
  • Enjoy the evening at leisure.
  • Overnight stay in Leh.

 

Day 08: Leh – Sham Valley – Kargil (220 Kms | 6-7 Kms approx)

  • After Breakfast leave for Kargil, enroute visit to Magnetic Hill & to Alchi Gompa, Post lunch leave for Lamayuru, enroute view of Moon landscape, Lamayuru and Giant Maitreya at Mulbekh.
  • Arrive at Kargil by evening.
  • Overnight in Kargil.

 

Day 09: Kargil – Srinagar (202 Kms | 6-7 Kms approx.)

  • After Breakfast drive to Srinagar pass through Drass, visit the Vijay Memorial Hall & Museum.
  • On arrival in Srinagar drop off at hotel / houseboat.
